Technology, Safety & Home Care
Your Safety: Rigorous Infection Control
The cornerstone of a safe dental practice is trust. Dr. Maria and our entire team follow the strict universal precautions and guidelines set by OSHA, the EPA, and the CDC to protect our patients and staff alike.
- Sterilization Standards: We use an advanced autoclave sterilizer that utilizes steam, heat, and pressure to eliminate bacteria and viruses from all reusable equipment, including dental handpieces.
- Surface Disinfection: All countertops and surfaces undergo rigorous chemical disinfection between every patient visit to ensure a sterile environment.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Our team utilizes disinfectant hand sanitizers, medical-grade gloves, and face masks for every procedure.
- Disposable Materials: Whenever possible, we use high-quality disposable materials to eliminate any risk of cross-contamination.
Advanced Technology & Precision
When you seek care at our office, you are assured that Dr. Maria utilizes the latest technology to enhance both the safety and the fit of your dental work.
- Microscope-Enhanced Dentistry: Dentistry is micro-surgery. By using microscope-enhanced glasses, Dr. Maria can perform incredibly precise work that simply isn't possible with the naked eye, ensuring your restorations fit perfectly.
- Low-Radiation Digital Radiographs: We follow strict guidelines on when X-rays are taken. Digital radiographs allow us to detect cavities, analyze bone health, and examine roots with minimal exposure time compared to traditional film.

Advanced Technology for Better Outcomes
- Precision Microscopy: Dr. Maria utilizes microscope-enhanced dentistry to perform microsurgery with incredible accuracy. This ensures a more conservative treatment and a more comfortable recovery.
- Digital Radiography: Our digital X-rays use minimal exposure time to detect hidden issues, bone health, and trauma with precision that traditional film cannot match.

Is digital dental imaging safe?
Yes. We use high-speed digital sensors that require significantly less radiation than traditional film X-rays. This technology allows us to see instantaneous, high-resolution images while prioritizing your long-term health.
Why does Dr. Maria use a microscope for my treatment?
Microscope-enhanced dentistry allows for surgical precision. It helps Dr. Maria identify microscopic cracks, ensure the most conservative tooth preparation, and achieve a "perfect fit" for crowns and bridges, which prevents future decay.
How do you ensure equipment is truly sterile?
We utilize a hospital-grade autoclave system that uses a combination of high-pressure steam and heat to kill 100% of bacteria and viruses. Our sterilization cycles are monitored and tested daily for complete safety.
What should I do if my temporary crown falls off over the weekend?
If your temporary crown comes off, don't panic. Keep it safe and call our office at 203-924-1613. You can often temporarily replace it using a small amount of toothpaste or over-the-counter dental adhesive (like Fixodent) until you can see us.
Is it normal to have sensitivity after a new filling?
Minor sensitivity to cold or pressure is normal for 24–48 hours as the tooth "settles." However, if your bite feels uneven or if the pain is increasing, please call us for a quick adjustment.
Need Immediate Assistance?
If you are experiencing persistent sensitivity beyond 48 hours or have a true dental emergency, Dr. Maria is available. Our voicemail is active 24/7 with instructions on how to reach her or a trusted colleague after hours.
